The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends visiting a dentist at least twice a year for a check-up and a professional cleaning. Our office also recommends a minimum of two visits per year.
Please call our office as soon as you determine that you have a dental emergency. If you have a dental emergency during regular business hours, we will be glad to work you into our schedule. After hours, over the weekend and during holidays, please call our office and leave a message for the emergency line with your name and number. A doctor will call you back shortly to determine what treatment is necessary.
Adults should use a small-to-medium size toothbrush with soft-to-medium bristles. The head of the brush needs to be small enough to brush all areas of the mouth thoroughly, specifically the back of the mouth, which can be hard to reach. Children should use small toothbrushes with soft bristles. People with sensitive teeth can benefit from using gentle, soft bristled toothbrushes.
The American Dental Association recommends that you replace your brush every 3 to 4 months. With each use, the bristles become worn and cleaning effectiveness decreases. Depending on your oral health, you may need to replace your brush sooner. Typically, children’s toothbrushes need to be replaced more regularly than adults.
Generally, manual toothbrushes can be just as effective as powered toothbrushes. However some advances in electric brushes have been shown to help patients be more effective with their homecare. Children may find brushing with a powered toothbrush more exciting. If you have difficulty using a manual toothbrush, a powered toothbrush may be much more comfortable and easier to use. Please consult with one of our doctors or hygienists to determine which toothbrush is right for you.
As long as you brush and floss thoroughly, it does not matter if you brush then floss or floss then brush. However, flossing before brushing enables the fluoride in your toothpaste to better reach the areas between the teeth.
No. However, we recommend you use a toothpaste that contains fluoride and carries the ADA Seal of Acceptance, which means it has been assessed for safety and effectiveness. Studies consistently show that fluoride helps strengthen and rebuild tooth structure, and helps prevent dental decay.

“I am long overdue writing this great review. I have had a lot of dental work over the years and I have to say Ladeau Family Dental practice is simply the best in care, knowledge, and helping you get thru any procedure and wonderful cleaning. I had a tooth pulled the day before Thanksgiving and some repair work recently and Dr. Ladeau was so great and his team made me feel great and I highly recommend this dental practice to anyone who needs a new dentist. And I forgot to mention I travel 45 min. to this location and I feel like they treat me like family! Thank you so very much!”Kimberly Clark
“From the minute I walk in, I'm made welcome. The staff are great. They let me know what they're doing and why- from a cleaning to an implant I recently had done. I feel relaxed here. And this is coming from a person who had a terrible/traumatic childhood experience with our family dentist growing up. I don't dred the dentist anymore.”Kelly Marinilli
“I am so very happy to find a dental office with so many caring and personable people. They are accommodating and welcoming and I highly recommend them if you are looking for an office that feels like family.”Billie McCarthy
